Demi Lovato’s “Tell Me You Love Me”, is the sixth studio album, which was released on September 29, 2017 by Island, Hollywood, and Safehouse Records. It is considered to be one of the most emotionally raw songs the singer has ever sung or come across.
She quotes “This song best represents who I am today as an artist” and “I really connect to the lyrics”. She states that when the song was first brought to her, she knew in an instance that she wanted to record it regardless of how vulnerable or emotionally naked it made her feel. The soulfulness of it almost made the singer burst into tears during the recording process as she recently experienced the ugly truth of her breakup and all the side effects attached to it.
The lyrics that Lovato most associates with are, “I don’t know who I am without you/ I’ve got it bad, because sometimes you feel like you don’t know who you are without somebody”, as her inner feelings were literally drafted down into words.
The cinematography of the music video elevates the audience into another sphere as they witness divergence throughout, aka a roller-coaster ride of a very passionate love story.
The song was indeed a stupendous success, as its World Tour earned $20 Million in opening run, alongside maintaining its peak postion of 2 on the Billboard.
