Skyscraper | Rooting for the heights

Skyscraper is a 2018 American action film starring Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock. The story follows the notion that’s built up as a former FBI agent who must rescue his family from a newly built skyscraper, infact the tallest in the world, after its hijacked by criminals and set on fire, with the utmost goal being complete destruction. It’s the first non-comedy of Thurber’s career, it also marks his second collaboration with Johnson following Central Intelligence (2016).
The film took it up a notch by backing gross over $280 million worldwide against its production budget of around $125 million.
However regardless anything and everything the film received mixed reviews from critics, who praised Johnson’s performance and the film’s suspenseful and thriller scenes but also pointed it out as a  “clichéd script” and much alike to “The Towering”, “Inferno” and “Die Hard”. It was said to be a solid compilation of the three films mentioned to get the extra kick.  For a kaleidoscopic perspective others picked the film as “Well –cast yet derivative, Skyscraper isn’t exactly a towering action thriller feat but it’s solidly constructed enough to stand among the genre’s more mildly diverting features” .
All and all it’s a must one time watch, especially for those rooting for something beyond the ordinary
