The Meg | Return of the fiercest creature in the ocean!?

The Meg is a 2018 science fiction horror-thriller film loosely based on the 1997 book “Meg: A novel of Deep Terror”. The film stars Jason Statham, Li Bingbing, Rainn Wilson, Ruby Rose, Winston Chao and Cliff Curtis. The plot follows a group of scientists who encounter a 75-foot-long Megalodon shark while on a rescue mission at the floor of the Pacific Ocean.

Jonas Taylor, plays the lead, a role of a rescue diver, who attempts to save the group of scientists in a nuclear submarine. Amidst the struggle of survival, he sees the hull of the submarine being rammed in by an unknown giant creature. When he returns to the rescue vessel, two of his crew are stuck in the damaged submarine but Taylor leaves anyway, realising that attempting rescue would result in the death of everyone. Moments after evacuating the rescue submarine, the damaged sub is destroyed in an explosion. Taylor’s account of the story stating that a giant sea creature was the cause of the disaster was dismissed by Dr. heller who believed that Taylor was affected by pressure-induced psychosis.

The real thrill of the movie is that amongst all the mishaps, how the pain is turned into power and new tactics are being introduced to surpass it. The thrill-filled factor of the movie ought to send chills down your spine!

The critic consensus believes that the movie sets audiences up for a good old-fashioned B-movie creature feature, but lacks the genre thrills, or the cheesy bite to make it worth diving in.
However whether you love The Meg, hate The Meg, or anything in between, you just cannot overlook it, it is a must watch especially for those looking for hustle and bustle!
